Weather

Overview

The Weather tab in Fantasy Calendar allows you to tweak the weather settings for your calendar, if you choose to enable it.

Note: For weather to be shown, you need to have seasons so that the system can generate appropriate lengths of weather shifts. In addition, this page does not actually create the weather, that's done in locations.

Weather Offset

This setting can offset the weather relative to the season it is on. Without an offset, the coldest day of winter is on day 1 of winter. If you want to have your colder weather coming into effect a bit later than your season, you need to edit this setting.

In our Gregorian calendar, the weather usually comes fully into effect a month and a half (56 days, give or take) after the winter or summer seasons' peak. This input represents the amount of days that the weather should be shifted around the seasons.

Temperature and wind speed system

The two dropdown menus below the weather offsets are the current temperature and wind speed systems. This will change the values in the calendar to show either metric, imperial, or both types of systems. The temperature dropdown also allows for Both (metric inputs) and Both (imperial inputs), which allows you to show both, but select which system you want to use for the inputs in the calendar.

Cinematic temperature description simply just adds a small descriptor above the current temperature in your calendar, as shown below:

Description Temperature
Polar -40°F / -40°C
Bone-chilling -22°F / -30°C
Bitter cold -4°F / -20°C
Biting 5°F / -15°C
Frigid 14°F / -10°C
Crisp 23°F / -5°C
Freezing 32°F / 0°C
Cold 41°F / 5°C
Chilly 50°F / 10°C
Cool 59°F / 15°C
Mild 68°F / 20°C
Warm 77°F / 25°C
Hot 86°F / 30°C
Very Hot 95°F / 35°C
Sweltering 104°F / 40°C
Blistering 113°F / 45°C
Burning 140°F / 60°C
Blazing 176°F / 80°C
Infernal 212°F / 100°C

Together with the setting "hide temperature from guest viewers" you can make it so that the viewers on your calendar can see what the weather feels like, but not necessarily know the exact temperature.

Weather Seed

Fantasy Calendar uses a pseudo-random number generator to randomly generate its weather systems. This seed is the base number for this generation, which means that anyone who uses the same number will get the same generation. You can share this between multiple calendars if you wish to have multiple calendars in the same area so that they get the same temperatures, rain, etc.
